Mrs, Heather, Kindergarten, enjoys a Sonic drink for being one of the first teachers to turn in forms from the student handbook! Way to go Mrs. Heather and Kindergartners!
Kindergarten students have been practicing their names and they used pieces of paper to cover their name like the colors of the rainbow.
Welcome to our new Kindergarten teachers this year. From left to right are Mr. Holt, Ms. Sanders and Mrs. Vallette. Mrs. Vallette comes to us from USD 500 where she taught 1st grade. Mr. Holt taught in USD 500 and USD 512 and was awarded Kansas Horizon Teacher of the Year. Ms. Sanders was a SPED para at TE last year and is working on her Master's in Special Education.
How time flies! Kindergarten celebrated the year on May 19th with a ceremony and reception. On to 1st grade! How they have grown! Ms. Ochoa's kindergarten class had a special visitor on May 2nd.
Diane Vaughan-Austin read her book, It's Trouble At School, for the class. The book was written in August of 2013. The book is about a boy who cares for an injured crow. The boy and the crow become friends and when the boy goes off to school the crow misses him. The crow follows him to school one day, causes trouble at school and a fun adventure begins. The author also happens to be the mother of Christy Austin, a para at TE. Ms. Ochoa's kindergarten class received 100 compliments and the students chose to have an ice cream costume party as their prize! Kindergarten had an egg hunt, Thursday, April 17th. The teachers use it as a fun and exciting way to practice sight words. Each egg had a sight word written on it that the child read to keep the egg in his/her sack. Kindergarten did their best to try to catch a leprechaun today. They didn’t catch him but he left a yummy treat!
